Is FairHire really open source?
Yes. FairHire is open source under the MIT license, and self-hosting will be free forever. The public repository is on its way; until then you run the same codebase hosted. The paid plans exist only for teams who want it hosted and supported.
What counts as a paid trial?
A paid trial is real, compensated work a candidate does as part of the funnel. FairHire tracks it as the heaviest-weighted signal in the composite. You pay candidates directly, and FairHire does not take a cut.
Can I move from hosted to self-hosted later?
Yes. Because the hosted product is the same open-source codebase, you’ll be able to export and self-host once the repo is public. No lock-in is the point.
